Sweet Saturdays: 08/03/19

Hi everyone! Another week has gone by and our summer is dwindling fast. It’s already August, just one month closer to fall.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW:

It’s been a busy week. Bre has been having serious sinus and allergy issues since she moved out and her doctor couldn’t figure out why, and now we know why. They found mold in their apartment!! After many months of trying to get them to fix the AC, she was able to break the lease because of this. She’s going to stay at home for probably another six months.

I heard from Brandon again last Sunday. He’s now in phase 3 of 4 and is hangin’ in there. He and the other leaders on the ship (in bootcamp they call all buildings ships) are like the “staff” of the ship since they’ve been there the longest.

My mom and I finally made it to see the Lion King yesterday. It was perfect!! I used to know that movie by heart when my kids were little and it was JUST LIKE the original! How they make CGI look so lifelike is such an amazing thing!!

WHAT I’M LOVING THIS WEEK:

pistachio butter

I found this at Walmart this week. I LOVE pistachio anything and this is the BOMB!! They have several of these nut butters–walnut butter and pecan butter in different flavors (praline, honey, etc). They’re a little cheaper at Walmart, but if you can’t find them they are also sold on Amazon.

Speaking of pistachios, these White Chocolate Blondies with Salted Pistachios and Lemon look SO yummy!!!

Homemade Flour Tortillas are on my list of things to make gluten free.

Anyone tried Mexican Street Corn? My sister made it for us years ago and I need to make it again. It is SO yummy!!!

I just bought feta cheese to make this Whipped Feta Dip!!

WHAT I POSTED THIS WEEK:

Gluten Free Mock Rye Bread — makes the perfect Reuben! And tastes JUST like real rye bread!!

Homemade Clotted Cream — if you’ve never had clotted cream, you MUST make this!! It’s hard to describe the flavor, but it may be best described as a roasted cream or a cross between butter and whipped cream.
